B2553
B2553-CONVERTIBLE TOP PANEL UNLATCH LIMIT SWITCH PERFORMANCE
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the Ignition Switch in the on position and the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) is awake.
- Set Condition:
This code will set when there is a timeout in the roof sequence because the Convertible Top Panel Unlatch Limit Switch is open for at least 40 ms.
Diagnostic Test
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, record and erase all PTCM DTC's.
Try to operate the Power Top Switch.
Wait 30 seconds.
With the scan tool, read all PTCM DTC's.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go to 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test
2. (Q972) PANEL LIMIT SWITCH UNLATCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PTCM C1 harness connector.
Disconnect the Panel Unlatch Limit Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (Q972) Panel Limit Switch Unlatch Signal circuit in the Panel Unlatch Limit Switch harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (Q972) Panel Limit Switch Unlatch Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go to 3
3. (Q972) PANEL LIMIT SWITCH UNLATCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the (Q972) Panel Limit Switch Unlatch Signal circuit between the PTCM C1 harness connector and the Panel Unlatch Limit Switch harness connector.
Does the ohm meter read open circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (Q972) Panel Limit Switch Unlatch Signal circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go to 4
4. (Z916) GROUND CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Disconnect the PTCM C2 and C3 harness connectors.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (Z916) Ground circuit in the Panel Unlatch Limit Switch harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (Z916) Ground circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go to 5
5. (Z916) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the (Z916) Ground circuit between the PTCM C1 harness connector and the Panel Unlatch Limit Switch harness connector.
Does the ohm meter read open circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (Z916) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Power Top Control Module (PTCM).
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test
