B254C-TONNEAU EXTEND LIMIT SWITCH PERFORMANCE
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the Ignition Switch in the on position and the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) is awake.
- Set Condition:
This code will set when there is a timeout in the roof sequence because the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch is open for at least 40 ms.
Diagnostic Test
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, record and erase all PTCM DTC's.
Try to operate the Power Top Switch.
Wait 30 seconds.
With the scan tool, read all PTCM DTC's.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go to 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test
2. TONNEAU EXTENDED LIMIT SWITCH
Using the scan tool, under "Miscellaneous Functions", "Manual Top Movement" move the Tonneau to the middle position between Extended and Retracted.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch harness connector.
Connect an Ohmmeter between the leads of the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch.
Physically toggle the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch and observe the Ohmmeter.
Does the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch change states when toggled?
YES
Go To 3.
NO
Replace the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test
3. (Q982) TONNEAU LIMIT SWITCH EXTENDED SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Disconnect the PTCM C1 harness connector.
Disconnect the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (Q982) Tonneau Limit Switch Extended Signal circuit in the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (Q982) Tonneau Limit Switch Extended Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go to 4
4. (Q982) TONNEAU LIMIT SWITCH EXTENDED SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the (Q982) Tonneau Limit Switch Extended Signal circuit between the PTCM C1 harness connector and the Tonneau Extended Limit Switch harness connector.
Does the ohm meter read open circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (Q982) Tonneau Limit Switch Extended Signal circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
