B2300
B2300 - Wiper Mode Switch Input Circuit Performance
Theory of Operation
The Washer/Wiper Switch is part of the Right Multifunction Switch. The switching status is transferred to the Cluster by way of the LIN bus, a serial sub-bus. The Cluster converts the data to CAN(B) and sends the message to the corresponding module on the bus.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When the Cluster detects a shorted low condition on the Right Multifunction Switch MUX circuit.
1. DTC IS ACTIVE
NOTE: If U1149-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH is set along with this DTC, diagnose the communication DTC first.
NOTE: If U1008-LIN 1 BUS is set along with this DTC, diagnose the communication DTC first.
NOTE: If P0562-BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW or P0563-BATTERY VOLTAGE HIGH is set along with this DTC, diagnose the battery voltage DTC first.
NOTE: Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, corroded terminals or unseated connectors. Repair before proceeding with test.
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, select View DTCs in the Cluster.
Is the DTC status Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 6
2. (W52) RIGHT MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Wiper/Washer jumper harness connector from the Left Multifunction Switch.
3. Measure the resistance of the (W52) Right Multifunction Switch MUX circuits between the Left Multifunction Switch harness connector and ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (W52) Multifunction Switch MUX circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Go To 3
3. (W52) LEFT MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
1. Connect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector to the Left Multifunction Switch.
2. Disconnect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector from the Right Multifunction Switch.
3. Ignition on, engine not running.
4. Measure the voltage of the (W52) Multifunction Switch MUX circuits between the Multifunction Switch jumper harness connector and ground.
Is the voltage above 4.5 Volts?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Left Multifunction Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
4. (W52) FRONT WIPER SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (Z102) M/F MUX RETURN CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Measure the resistance between the (W52) Multifunction Switch MUX circuits and the (Z102) Multifunction Switch MUX Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (W52) Multifunction Switch MUX circuit for a short to the (Z102) Multifunction Switch MUX Return circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Go To 5
5. CLUSTER
1. View the repair.
Repair
- Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
6. INTERMITTENT WASHER SWITCH CIRCUIT
1. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
2. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
3. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors.
4. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
