Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
*ONE REAR WINDOW MOTOR INOPERATIVE FROM ANY SWITCH

Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Try to operate the inoperative power window several times but do not hold the switch longer than 5 seconds.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are there any POWER WINDOW related trouble codes present?
Yes
- Diagnose and repair the DTC(s).
No
- Go To 2
2. WINDOW MOTOR
NOTE: Graphic shows Driver Rear Window Motor connector- Passenger Rear is similar.
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the appropriate door panel and gain access to the motor connector.
Disconnect the power window motor connector.
Using a 12-volt test light, connect one lead to the REAR WINDOW DRIVER UP circuit and the other lead to the REAR WINDOW DRIVER DOWN circuit in the connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Press the Power Window Switch UP and then DOWN several times while observing the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in both directions?
Yes
- Check and repair any binding conditions. If okay, replace the inoperative power window motor (regulator).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. REAR WINDOW DRIVER DOWN CIRCUIT OPEN
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the REAR WINDOW DRIVER DOWN circuit.
Press the Power Window Switch DOWN and observe the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in the DOWN position?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Go To 6
4. REAR WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT OPEN
Using a 12-volt test light connected to Ground, check the REAR WINDOW DRIVER UP circuit.
Press the Power Window Switch UP and observe the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in the UP position?
Yes
- Replace the appropriate Door Module (motor ground open).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 5
5. REAR WINDOW DRIVER UP WIRE OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the appropriate Door Module C1 connector.
Measure the resistance of the appropriate Rear Window Driver Up circuit between the Door Module connector and the Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the appropriate Door Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Repair the Window Driver Up circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
6. WINDOW DRIVER DOWN WIRE OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the appropriate Door Module C1 connector.
Measure the resistance of the appropriate Rear Window Driver Down circuit between the Door Module connector and the Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the appropriate Door Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Repair the Window Driver Down circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
