Outer Tie Rod

OUTER TIE ROD

1. Place front wheels of vehicle in STRAIGHT-AHEAD position.
2. Raise and support vehicle. Maintenance
3. Remove front tire and wheel assembly. Tires and Wheels - Removal




4. Loosen tie rod jam nut (2).
5. Remove nut (5) attaching outer tie rod (4) to steering knuckle (1) by holding tie rod end stud stationary while loosening and removing nut with a wrench.




6. Remove outer tie rod end (2) from steering knuckle (3) using Remover, Special Tool C-3894-A.
7. Remove outer tie rod from inner tie rod threads. Count how many rotations it takes to remove outer tie rod for installation reference.
