Fuel Tank - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure even with engine off. Before servicing any part of the fuel system, the pressure must be released.
1. Remove fuel cap.
2. Release fuel pressure, Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable at battery.
4. Remove exhaust system from resonator back, Muffler - Removal.
NOTE: Balance is critical on the propeller shaft, mark the propeller shaft prior to removal in order to have a reference point when installing the propeller shaft.
5. If equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) mark propeller shaft rear connection and remove propeller shaft, Propeller Shaft - Removal.
6. Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector (2) from chassis connector (1).
7. Disconnect vapor canister line (1) at the right front of fuel tank.
8. Disconnect fuel supply line (2).
9. Disconnect EVAP vapor line (3).
10. Disconnect fuel vapor recirculation line (1) at the right rear of fuel tank.
11. Loosen clamp (2), remove fuel fill hose (1) from fuel tank (3).
WARNING: Support fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or fuel tank to fall from jack assembly.
12. Remove fuel tank strap bolts (1) and straps (2).
13. Lower fuel tank.
14. Remove all fuel and vapor lines from fuel tank.
15. Remove fuel pump module, Fuel Pump Module - Removal.
16. Transfer fuel into an approved fuel storage container.
