EGR Tube - Removal
4.0L
WARNING: The normal operating temperature of the exhaust gas recirculate (EGR) valve and tube is very high. Therefore, never work around or attempt to service any engine component until it is completely cooled.
CAUTION: DO NOT use air tools when removing bolts from intake manifold. The intake manifold is made of plastic and it is critical to remove bolts using hand tools only. The use of air tools can cause the threads of the intake manifold to become stripped.
1. Remove flange mounting bolts (3) at intake manifold.
2. Remove silicone rubber seal.
3. Remove flange bolts (3) at exhaust gas recirculate (EGR) valve (2).
4. Remove EGR tube (4) from EGR valve (2).
5. Remove and discard gasket (5) located between EGR valve (2) and EGR tube (4).
