Rear Hub / Bearing - Removal







REMOVAL

1. Raise and support vehicle. Maintenance




2. Remove wheel mounting nuts (3), then tire and wheel assembly (1). Tires and Wheels - Removal




3. If equipped with AWD:
a. Remove cotter pin (1), nut lock (7) and spring washer (2) from half shaft (5).
b. While a helper applies brakes to keep hub from turning, remove hub nut (3) and washer (6).
4. Remove brake caliper and rotor from hub and bearing assembly. Brake Rotor - Removal




5. Disconnect vehicle wiring harness connector (1) at wheel speed sensor connector (3).
6. Unclip wheel speed sensor connector (3) from spare tire mounting support (2).
7. Disconnect two sensor cable routing clips (4) on rear suspension crossmember.
8. Disconnect two sensor cable routing clips (5) along toe link.
9. Disconnect sensor cable from bracket (6) on brake support.




10. Completely loosen, but do not remove four bolts (2) fastening hub and bearing (1) in place. Once loosened from threads in hub and bearing, push bolts up against rear of hub and bearing to keep brake support plate in place when hub and bearing is removed.




11. Pull hub and bearing (1) off knuckle and half shaft (2) (if equipped with AWD), then thread wheel speed sensor cable (4) through hole in brake support plate (3) as it is removed with hub and bearing.
