Front HVAC Housing Installation
HVAC HOUSING
NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is opened. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.
1. Position the HVAC housing (3) against the dash panel (4) in the passenger compartment with the three mounting studs located in their proper holes. Make sure that the condensate drain tube protrudes through its opening.
2. Loosely install the nut (1) and bolt (2) that secures the HVAC housing to the passenger compartment side of the dash panel.
3. Install the three nuts (1) onto the studs (2) that secure the HVAC housing to the engine compartment side of the dash panel (3). Tighten the nuts to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.).
4. Tighten the nut and bolt that secures the HVAC housing to the passenger compartment side of the dash panel to 3 Nm (26 in. lbs.).
5. Install the instrument panel Instrument Panel - Installation.
6. Remove the previously installed plugs or caps and connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes.
7. Connect the A/C suction and liquid lines to the A/C expansion valve A/C Line - Installation.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
9. If the heater core is being replaced, flush the cooling system Service and Repair.
10. Refill the engine cooling system Service and Repair.
11. Evacuate the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Evacuate.
12. Charge the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Charge.
13. Calibrate the A/C-heater control Procedures.
