Liquid Line
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant systemRefrigerant Oil Level
NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is opened. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.
1. Install the A/C liquid line (2) through the top of the engine compartment and route the front of the line through the opening between the radiator and the headlamp support.
2. Position the rear of the A/C liquid line to the dash panel
3. Reposition the radiator and install the upper radiator retaining bolts Radiator - Installation.
4. Remove the tape or plugs from the liquid line fitting and the condenser port.
5. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it and a new gasket onto the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring seal as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
6. Connect the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser (3) and install the retaining nut (1). Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
7. Position the radiator end air seal (2) to the right side of the A/C condenser (3) and install the retaining pins (1).
8. Install the front fascia.
9. Install the radiator closure panel Installation.
10. Remove the tape or plugs from the liquid line and suction line fittings and expansion valve ports.
11. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the liquid and suction line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
12. Install the A/C liquid line (1) onto the tapping block of the A/C suction line (7) and install the retaining clip (8).
13. Connect the A/C liquid line and A/C suction line to the A/C expansion valve (6) and install the retaining nut (5). Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
14. Install the nut (9) that secures the A/C liquid line to the right front strut tower (2). Tighten the nut securely.
15. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the transducer fitting located on the A/C liquid line. Use only the specified O-ring seal as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
16. Install the A/C pressure transducer (3) onto the A/C liquid line. Tighten the A/C pressure transducer securely.
17. Connect the wire harness connector (4) to the A/C pressure transducer.
18. Engage the A/C liquid line and A/C suction line to the refrigerant line routing clip located on top of the right frame rail.
19. Install the air cleaner housing and air inlet tube Air Cleaner Housing - Installation.
20. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
21. Adjust the refrigerant oil level Refrigerant Oil Level.
22. Charge the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Charge.
