Installation







INSTALLATION





1. Lubricate guide pins (1, 3) and inside boots (2) with packet supplied with service kit, Sythesco GLK-1 lubricant or equivalent.

CAUTION: Note that the upper (1) and lower (3) guide pins are not identical. The bushed pin with the two notches on the head flange must be installed in the lower (3) position on the adapter.

2. Install guide pins (1, 3) and boots (2) in adapter as indicated. The boots have grooves built into their inner lips to fit onto pins and adapter.

CAUTION: If adhesive is missing from noise suppression gasket on rear of either inner and outer brake pads or if gasket is damaged, replace brake pads. Brake Pads - Removal

NOTE: If caliper pistons need to be retracted in bore to slide over pads, make sure proper brake fluid level in reservoir is maintained.

CAUTION: Use care when installing caliper onto disc brake adapter to avoid damaging boots on caliper guide pins.





3. Install disc brake caliper over brake pads on brake caliper adapter.

CAUTION: To avoid possible noise or roughness concerns, it is crucial that upper caliper guide pin bolt (closest to bleeder screw) be tighten to specifications first before tightening lower guide pin bolt.

4. Align caliper guide pin bolt holes with guide pins, then install caliper guide pin bolts (4). Tighten upper (closest to bleeder screw) bolt to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.), then tighten lower bolt to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).




5. Install tire and wheel assembly (1) Tires and Wheels - Installation. Install and tighten wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Pump brake pedal several times to set pads to caliper and brake rotor.
8. Check and adjust brake fluid level as necessary.
9. Road test vehicle making several stops to wear off any foreign material on brakes and to seat brake pads.
