ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM
ESP(R) (Electronic Stability Program), which includes Hydraulic Brake Assist and Traction Control is standard on all vehicles. ESP(R) aids the driver in maintaining vehicle directional stability. ESP(R) will do whatever can be done, within the limits of available traction, to keep the car on course.
ESP(R) uses the ABS with All-Speed Traction Control along with the following components to operate:
- Dynamics (ESP) Sensor (Yaw Rate and Lateral Acceleration sensors combined)
- Steering Angle Sensor (SAS)
The Dynamics Sensor that is mounted under the center console, which is near the center of gravity of the car for effective sensing Description and Operation. The Steering Angle Sensor is located in the steering column (inside clockspring) Description and Operation.
ESP(R) can be turned off by using the ESP Off switch. When the ESP Off switch is depressed and released, turning ESP off, it does not completely turn the system off. The ESP(R) system reduces torque management to a lesser amount, but ESP(R) function can still occur if the system perceives the need.
