Diagnostic Test

1. OPEN LIFTGATE RELEASE MOTOR

Remove the liftgate inner door trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Latch connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Latch connector.

NOTE: Ensure the Passenger Door Module "C1" connector is connected.

Connect a test light between the (P31) Liftgate Release Driver and the (Z245) Ground terminals in the liftgate Latch connector.
Press the "LIFTGATE " button on the RKE transmitter or press the Liftgate Handle and observe the test light.
Did the test light illuminate when the motor was actuated?

Yes

- Replace the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor Assembly.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 2

2. (Z245) GROUND WIRE OPEN

Turn the ignition off.
Turn all lights off.
Measure the resistance between body ground and the (Z245) Ground circuit in the Liftgate Latch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair the (Z245) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

3. LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH OPEN

Disconnect the Liftgate Handle Switch connector.
Press the door lock switch to the "Unlock" position.
Connect the Liftgate Latch connector before proceeding.
Turn the ignition on.
Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit and the Ground circuit in the switch harness connector and observe the Liftgate Lock Motor.
Did the Liftgate Lock Motor operate when the switch was jumped?

Yes

- Replace the Liftgate Handle Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. SWITCH (Z87) GROUND OPEN

Turn the ignition off.
Ensure all lights are off.
Measure the resistance between body ground and the (Z87) Ground circuit in the Liftgate Handle Switch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Repair the (Z87) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

5. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN

Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit between the BCM C2 connector and the Liftgate Handle Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 6

No

- Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

6. (P31) LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER OPEN

Disconnect the Liftgate Latch connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P31) Liftgate Release Driver circuit between the BCM C2 connector and the Liftgate Latch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P31) Liftgate Release Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
