MSM-Driver Recliner Sensor Out Of Range Low

MSM-DRIVER RECLINER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE LOW

For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical

- When Monitored:
Continuously.

- Set Condition:
This code is immediately set when the seat motor potentiometer feeds a value lower than the Memory/Heated Seat Adjustable Pedal Module has stored in EEPROM. Code will remain for 50 ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Test

1. STORED DTC
With the scan tool, erase the DTC from Memory/Heated Seat Adjustable Pedals Module (MHSAPM).
Operate the driver's power seat and memory system.
Turn the ignition switch to the Off position then start the engine and let run for one minute.
With the scan tool check for the same DTC to reset in the MHSAPM.
Did the same DTC reset?

Yes

- Go To2

No

- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test

2. (P29) DRIVER SEAT SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN

Ensure the MHSAPM is fully connected before proceeding.
Disconnect the Driver Recliner Seat Position Sensor connector.
Turn ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (P29) Driver Seat Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit at Recliner Seat Position Sensor connector.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Go To3

No

- Go To7

3. (P47) DRIVER SEAT RECLINER POSITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN

Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Recliner Seat Position Sensor Connector.
Disconnect the MHSAPM C2 Connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P47) Driver Seat Recliner Position Signal circuit between the Recliner Position Sensor and the MHSAPM connectors.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To4

No

- Repair the (P47) Driver Seat Recliner Position Signal circuit for an open.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test

4. (P47) DRIVER SEAT RECLINER POSITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the MHSAPM C2 connector.
Disconnect the Driver Recliner Seat Position Sensor connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P47) Driver Sear Recliner Position Signal circuit to ground.
Is the resistance below 1000 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P47) Driver Seat Recliner Position Signal circuit a short to ground.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test

No

- Go To5

5. RECLINER SENSOR LOW

Turn ignition off.
Ensure the MHSAPM is fully connected before proceeding.
Disconnect the Driver Recliner Seat Position Sensor Connector.
Connect a jumper wire between (P29) Driver Seat Sensor 5 volt Supply and (P47) Driver Seat Recliner Position Signal circuits.
Turn ignition on.
With the scan tool select MHSAPM Sensors.
Read the Driver Seat Recliner Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the Seat Back Assembly.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test

No

- Go To6

6. MEMORY/HEATED SEAT ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MODULE
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
