MSM-Driver Front Riser Sensor Out Of Range High
MSM-DRIVER FRONT RISER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE HIGH
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical
- When Monitored:
Continuously.
- Set Condition:
This condition is immediately set when the seat motor potentiometer feeds a value higher than the Memory/Heated Seat Adjustable Pedal Module has stored in EEPROM. Code will remain for 50 ignition cycles.
Diagnostic Test
1. STORED DTC
With the scan tool, erase the DTC from Memory/Heated Seat Adjustable Pedal Module (MHSAPM).
Operate the driver's power seat and memory system.
Turn the ignition switch to the Off position then start the engine and let run for one minute.
With the scan tool check for the same DTC to reset in the MHSAPM.
Did the same DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To2
No
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
2. (P28) DRIVER SEAT POSITION SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P28) Driver Seat Position Sensor Ground circuit at the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To3
No
- Go To8
3. (P29) DRIVER SEAT SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY SHORTED HIGH
Disconnect the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor connector.
Turn ignition on.
Measure the voltage between (P29) Driver Seat Sensor 5 volt supply circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 5.5 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (P29) Driver Seat Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit for a short to battery.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
No
- Go To4
4. (P26) DRIVER SEAT FRONT RISER POSITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor Connector.
Disconnect the MHSAPM C2 Connector.
Turn ignition on.
Measure the voltage between (P26) Driver Seat Front Riser Position Signal circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 0.2 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (P26) Driver Seat Front Riser Position Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
No
- Go To5
5. DRIVER FRONT RISER SEAT POSITION SENSOR HIGH
Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor Connector.
Ensure the MHSAPM is fully connected before proceeding.
Turn ignition on.
With the scan tool in MHSAPM Sensors,
Read the Driver Seat Front Riser Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage above 0.2 volts?
Yes
- Go To6
No
- Replace the Seat Track Assembly.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
6. DRIVER FRONT RISER SEAT POSITION SENSOR SHORT TO MOTOR
Ensure all seat and sensor connectors are connected and front riser motor is operational.
With the scan tool in MHSAPM Sensors monitor the Front Riser Position Sensor while operating the front riser motor to both limits.
Did the voltage ever go above 7.0 volts only when the motor was in operation?
Yes
- Replace the Seat Track Assembly.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
No
- Go To7
7. MEMORY HEAT SEAT ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MODULE
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace the Memory Heated Seat Adjustable Pedal Module.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
8. (P28) DRIVER SEAT POSITION SENSOR GROUND WIRE
Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the MHSAPM C2 connector.
Disconnect the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P28) Driver Seat Position Sensor Ground wire between the Driver Front Riser Seat Position Sensor connector and the MHSAPM C2 connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Memory/Heated Seat Adjustable Pedal Module.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
No
- Repair the open (P28) Driver Seat Position Sensor Ground wire.
- PERFORM POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Power Seat System Verification Test
