IPM-51-EBL RELAY OPEN

- When Monitored:
Continuously.

- Set Condition:
The output is off and an open condition exists. Time to mature 1 second.





Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: 51-EBL RELAY OPEN?

Yes

- Go To2

No

- The condition that caused the symptom is not currently present. Search for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

2. CHECK FUSE #5
Turn the ignition off.
Check fuse #5 in the IPM.
Is the fuse open?

Yes

- Replace the fuse. Check for a short to ground in the Rear Window Defogger Relay Output circuit from the IPM to the defogger grid.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To3

3. REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER RELAY
Turn the ignition off.
Install a substitute relay in place of the Rear Window Defogger Relay (EBL).
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: 51-EBL RELAY OPEN?

Yes

- Replace the IPM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Rear Window Defogger Relay (EBL).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
