IPM-4F-HORN RELAY OPEN





For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical

- When Monitored:
Continuously.

- Set Condition:
The output is off and an open condition exists. Time to mature 1 second.





Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: HORN RELAY OPEN?

Yes

- Go To2

No

- The condition that caused the symptom is not currently present. Search for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test

2. CHECK FUSE #28
Turn the ignition off.
Check fuse #28 in the IPM.
Is the fuse open?

Yes

- Replace the fuse. Check for a short to ground in the (X2) Horn Relay Output circuit from the IPM to the horns.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test

No

- Go To3

3. HORN RELAY
Turn the ignition off.
Install a substitute relay in place of the Horn Relay.
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: HORN RELAY OPEN?

Yes

- Replace the IPM.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test

No

- Replace the Horn Relay.REFER TO the No Response tests. Communications - Verbose Codes
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
