EC Mirror Day/Night Line Fault
EC MIRROR DAY/NIGHT LINE FAULT
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
The Overhead Console does not receive any messages from the EC Mirror.
Diagnostic Test
1. VERIFY DTC
With the scan tool, erase the DTC.
Cycle the ignition on and off several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 15 seconds.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To2
No
- The condition is not present at this time. Monitor scan tool parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Search for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
2. AUTOMATIC DAY/NIGHT MIRROR
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit in the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Is the voltage 4.9 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Automatic Day/Night Mirror.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Go To3
3. (L24) AUTOMATIC HEADLAMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit between the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector and the Overhead Console harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To4
No
- Repair the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
4. (L24) AUTOMATIC HEADLAMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit in the Overhead Console harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Go To5
5. (L24) AUTOMATIC HEADLAMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Using a 12 volt test light connected to ground, probe the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit in the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector.
Does the test illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Repair the (L24) Automatic Headlamp Signal circuit for a shorted to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Replace the Overhead Console
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
