TCM Messages Not Received

TCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED

For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical

- When Monitored:
At all times.

- Set Condition:
If no PCI Reverse message is received for 5 consecutive messages, the NAV system will assume forward motion and be reflected with movement of the vehicle icon.





Diagnostic Test

1. DTC INTERMITTENT CONDITION
With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from on to off and then back to on.
Turn the Navigation System on and try to select a location.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display TCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED?

No

- The condition is not present at this time. Monitor scan tool parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Search for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Go To2

2. P/N SWITCH FAULT OR TCM DTC PRESENT

NOTE: Diagnose and repair any TCM DTCs before proceeding with this test.

Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
With the scan tool, monitor the Park/Neutral Position Switch input state.
Move the gear selector through all gear positions.
Does the scan tool display Park/Neutral and Drive/Reverse in the correct gear positions?

Yes

- Replace the Navigation Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Refer to "*CHECKING PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH OPERATION"
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
