Remote Radio Switch Stuck
REMOTE RADIO SWITCH STUCK
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
The code will set if the BCM detects a stuck switch or a short to ground on the Radio Control MUX circuit for more than 10 seconds.
Diagnostic Test
1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
With the scan tool, erase DTC's.
Cycle the ignition switch from off to on and wait approximately 1 minute.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Did this DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To2
No
- Refer to wiring diagrams located in Diagrams/Electrical to help isolate a possible intermittent short.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
2. LEFT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH SHORTED TO GROUND
WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding.
CAUTION: Do not place an intact undeployed airbag module face down on a hard surface, the airbag module will propel into the air if accidently deployed.
Remove the Driver Airbag Module.
Disconnect the Left Remote Radio Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on, reconnect the battery.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 4.5 volts or higher?
Yes
- Replace the Left Remote Radio Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To3
3. RIGHT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH SHORTED TO GROUND
Disconnect the Right Remote Radio Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on, reconnect the battery.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 4.5 volts or higher?
Yes
- Replace the Right Remote Radio Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To4
4. CHECK THE CLOCKSPRING
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Clockspring harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 5.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To5
No
- Go To6
5. (X20) RADIO CONTROL MUX CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND AT THE SWITCH
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Clockspring C1 harness connector.
NOTE: Ensure both remote radio switches are disconnected.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit at the clockspring harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for a short to ground between the clockspring and the remote radio switches.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for a short to the Radio Control MUX Return circuit between the clockspring and the remote radio switches.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
6. CLOCKSPRING SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 5.0 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Clockspring.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To7
7. (X20) RADIO CONTROL MUX CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the BCM C5 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for a short to ground between the clockspring and the BCM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To8
8. (X20) RADIO CONTROL MUX CKT SHORTED TO THE (X920) RADIO CONTROL MUX RETURN CKT
Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit and the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit in the BCM C4 and BCM C5 harness connectors.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for a short to the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit between the clockspring and the BCM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To9
9. BODY CONTROL MODULE
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace the Body Control Module.
