Remote Radio Switch Open

REMOTE RADIO SWITCH OPEN

For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
The radio control MUX voltage at the BCM is greater than 4.8 volts for at least 10 seconds.

Diagnostic Test

1. OPERATE THE REMOTE RADIO SWITCHES
Turn the ignition and radio on.
Operate both remote radio switches.
Are both remote radio control switches inoperative?

Yes

- Go To2

No

- Go To7

2. BODY CONTROL MODULE - INTERNAL SHORT
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Clockspring C1 harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 5.0 volts?

Yes

- Go To3

No

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

3. OPEN CLOCKSPRING
Connect a jumper wire between the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit and the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit at the Clockspring C1 connector.
With the scan tool, enter Body Computer then Sensors and monitor the Radio Control SW voltage.
Is the voltage approximately 0.0 volts?

Yes

- Check the circuits between the clockspring connector and the splice for an open. If ok, replace the Clockspring.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To4

4. OPEN (X20) RADIO CONTROL MUX CIRCUIT

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the BCM C5 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit between the BCM connector and the Clockspring connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To5

No

- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for an open between the clockspring and the BCM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

5. OPEN (X920) RADIO CONTROL MUX RETURN CIRCUIT

Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit between the BCM connector and the Clockspring connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To6

No

- Repair the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit for an open between the clockspring and the BCM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

6. BODY CONTROL MODULE - OPEN INTERNAL
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

7. OPEN (X20) RADIO CONTROL MUX CIRCUIT AT THE SWITCH

WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding.

CAUTION: Do not place an intact undeployed airbag module face down on a hard surface, the airbag module will propel into the air if accidently deployed.

Remove the Driver Airbag Module.
Disconnect both remote radio switch harness connectors.
Turn the ignition on, reconnect the battery.
Measure the voltage of the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit at the inoperative remote radio switch.
Is the voltage approximately 5.0 volts?

Yes

- Go To8

No

- Repair the (X20) Radio Control MUX circuit for an open between the inoperative switch and the splice.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

8. OPEN (X920) RADIO CONTROL MUX RETURN CIRCUIT AT THE SWITCH

Disconnect the Clockspring harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit between the inoperative remote radio switch and the clockspring connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To9

No

- Repair the (X920) Radio Control MUX Return circuit for an open between the inoperative switch and the clockspring.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

9. REMOTE RADIO SWITCH
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

- Replace the inoperative Remote Radio Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
