B1986-POWER LIFTGATE LATCH CONTROL 2 CIRCUIT OPEN





For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical

- When Monitored:
Anytime the Power Liftgate is in a latch power cinching or releasing operation.

- Set Condition:
When the liftgate module detects an open between the latch motor output circuits.





Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the power liftgate several times if possible.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1986-POWER LIFTGATE LATCH CONTROL 2 CIRCUIT OPEN?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Operate the liftgate several times and check for any binding conditions in the latch assembly.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. (Q83) LIFTGATE LATCH CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN




Measure the resistance of the (Q83) Liftgate Latch Clutch Driver circuit between the PLG Module C2 harness connector and the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor harness connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair the (Q83) Liftgate Latch Clutch Driver circuit for an open.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

3. (Z245) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN




Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z245) Ground circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

No

- Repair the (Z245) Ground circuit for an open.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

Yes

- Go To 4

4. LIFTGATE LATCH CIRCUIT OPEN




Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the (Q84) Liftgate Latch Cinch Driver circuit and the (Q85) Liftgate Latch Release Driver Circuit.
Is the resistance approximately 4.0 ohms?

No

- Go To 5

Yes

- Replace the Power Liftgate Module.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

5. (Q84) LIFTGATE LATCH CINCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN




Disconnect the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor connector.
Measure the resistance of the (Q84) Liftgate Latch Cinch Driver circuit between the PLG Module C2 harness connector and the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 6

No

- Repair the (Q84) Liftgate Latch Cinch Driver circuit for an open.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

6. (Q85) LIFTGATE LATCH RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN




Measure the resistance of the (Q85) Liftgate Latch Release Driver circuit between the PLG Module C2 harness connector and the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor harness connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 7

No

- Repair the (Q85) Liftgate Latch Release Driver circuit for an open.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

7. CHECK THE POWER LIFTGATE LATCH CINCH DRIVER




Turn the ignition off.
Reconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
While using the scan tool to actuate the Power Liftgate Latch Cinch motor, measure the voltage between the (Q84) Liftgate Latch Cinch Driver circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 12 volts?

No

- Replace the Power Liftgate Module.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

Yes

- Go To 8

8. CHECK THE POWER LIFTGATE LATCH RELEASE DRIVER




Turn the ignition on
While using the scan tool to actuate the Power Liftgate Latch Release Motor, measure the voltage between the (Q85) Liftgate Latch Release Driver circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 12 volts?

No

- Replace the Power Liftgate Module.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

Yes

- Replace the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor Assembly.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
