B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCK - BCM

- When Monitored:
Whenever the Body Control Module is awake.

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module senses the Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit active (1.5V to 3.5V) for longer than 10 seconds, this code will set.





Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, record DTC's.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the liftgate several times.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCK

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SHORTED




Disconnect the Liftgate Handle Switch connector.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCK?

Yes

- Go To3

No

- Replace the Liftgate Handle Switch.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

3. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND




Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit in the handle switch connector.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Go to 4


4. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO (Q901) LOGIC GROUND




Measure the resistance between the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit in the handle switch connector.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
