Catalytic Converter - Installation







3.8L ENGINE




CATALYTIC CONVERTER - 3.8L - 4.0L





1. If removed, install downstream oxygen sensor into catalytic converter. Tighten to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
2. Position band clamp on the catalytic converter.
3. Install catalytic converter into muffler until guide pin seats in slot on muffler.
4. Using a new gasket, connect catalytic converter flange to exhaust manifold. Tighten bolts to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
5. Position catalytic converter for proper clearance with underbody parts. A minimum clearance of 25 mm (1.0 in.) is required.
6. Tighten the clamp nuts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
7. Connect downstream oxygen sensor electrical connector.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
