9009/9010 - POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE (PTCM) LOW VOLTAGE
- When Monitored: Ignition on and battery voltage below 9.6 volts.
- Set Condition: When the battery voltage to the PTCM falls below a calibrated value for a calibrated amount of time.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.
Diagnostic Test
1. Charging System
Start the engine and allow the engine to idle.
With the DRB III(R), monitor the Battery Voltage value.
Does the scan tool display Battery Voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Check and repair the Charging System.
- Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
2. Open Fused B(+) Circuit
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PTCM C1 harness connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit at the PTCM C1 harness connector.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Power Top Control Module.Removal
- Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
No
- Repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open.
- Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
