- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) detects the Seat Belt Tension Sensor Signal circuit out of threshold.
Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Replace as necessary.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
2. CHECK THE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE ON THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR FEED CIRCUIT WITH PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.
Disconnect the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor harness connector.
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition on, then reconnect the battery.
Measure the voltage on the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor Feed circuit in the body side harness connector.
Is the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor Feed circuit voltage between 4.5 and 5.5 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
No
- Replace the Passenger Seat Assembly.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
