For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) detects the Seat Belt Tension Sensor Ground circuit is beyond its threshold.
Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Seat Assembly.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
No
- Go to 2
2. CHECK FOR SHORT TO VOLTAGE ON THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION GROUND CIRCUIT WITH PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED
Disconnect the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor harness connector.
Measure the voltage on the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor Ground circuit in the body side harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Seat Assembly.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
No
- Go To 3
3. PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.
Using a 12 volt test light connected to 12 volts, check the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor Ground circuit in the body side harness connector.
NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Is the test light illuminated and bright?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
No
- Replace the Passenger Seat Assembly.
- Perform *AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test
