Crankshaft - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Remove engine from vehicle.
2. Remove oil pan.
3. Remove oil pickup tube (1) and windage tray (3).
4. Remove front timing belt cover.
5. Remove timing belt and tensioner.
6. Remove crankshaft sprocket.
7. Tap dowel pin out of crankshaft.
8. Remove oil pump assembly.
9. Remove crankshaft rear oil seal retainer (1).
WARNING: DO NOT use a metal stamp to mark the bearing caps. Use only a scribe or paint mark
10. Remove connecting rod bearing caps. Connecting rod bearing caps are not interchangeable and should be paint marked or scribed before removal to ensure correct assembly.
11. Remove main bearing caps (2). Main bearing caps are not interchangeable and are marked to insure correct assembly.
12. Remove crankshaft from cylinder block (8).
NOTE: Before installing crankshaft, refer to Fitting Main Bearings and Installation of Connecting Rod Bearings.
