StarSCAN(R) Displays A Red "X" For The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) Module
MODELS:
2007 (CS) Pacifica
**2007 (JK) Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited**
**2007 (KA) Nitro**
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) (sales code BNB).
DISCUSSION:
If the technician finds a red "X" displayed on the StarSCAN(R) ECU View screen, (Fig. 1), for the SAS perform the following:
Attempt to access the SAS with the StarSCAN(R).
^ If able to access the SAS then the red "X" is erroneous and should be ignored.
NOTE:
Do not replace the BCM or the SAS for this issue.
^ If not able to access the SAS then the SAS is truly not responsive and further diagnosis is necessary. Refer to the detailed diagnostic information available in TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 8-Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Electrical Diagnostics > Lost Communication With SAS.
