Front Wiper Switch Input Open-BCM






FRONT WIPER SWITCH INPUT OPEN-BCM





For a complete wiring diagram refer to Diagrams/Electrical.





Diagnostic Test

1. VERIFY SWITCH STATE

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, select Body, Body Controller and read the Front Wiper Switch volts.

Is the voltage above 4.8 volts?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Go To 6

2. (W52) FRONT WIPER SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN





Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector.

Disconnect the BCM C5 harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the (W52) Front Wiper Switch MUX circuit between the BCM C5 harness connector and the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair the (W52) Front Wiper Switch MUX circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

3. (G902) MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH MUX RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN





Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector.

Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the (G902) Multi-Function Switch MUX Return circuit between the BCM C4 harness connector and the Multi-Function Switch harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the (G902) Multi-Function Switch MUX Return circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

4. (W52) FRONT WIPER MUX SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE





Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector.

Disconnect the BCM C5 harness connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Measure the voltage of the (W52) Front Wiper MUX Switch Signal circuit.

Is the voltage above 1.0 volt?

Yes

- Repair the (W52) Front Wiper Switch MUX circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Go To 5

5. BODY CONTROL MODULE

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Wiper/Washer Switch harness connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Connect a jumper wire between the (W52) Front Wiper Switch MUX circuit and the (G902) Multi-Function Switch MUX Return circuit.

With the scan tool, read the Front Wiper Switch volts?

Is the voltage below 0.5 volt?

Yes

- Replace the Wiper/Washer Switch.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

6. INTERMITTENT WIRING PROBLEM

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, erase all BCM DTCs.

Turn the ignition off.

NOTE: Visually inspect the related wiring harness and circuits. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.

NOTE: Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

NOTE: Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply.

Were any problems found?

Yes

- Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Test Complete.
