Vehicle Body Style Mismatch
VEHICLE BODY STYLE MISMATCH
For a complete wiring diagram refer to Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
When the ignition is on.
- Set Condition:
The Occupant Classification Module (OCM) monitors the Bus for vehicle Body Style message and will set this DTC if it does not receive this message.
The Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is programmed for a specific body style. Installing a module intended for a different body style (incorrect part number) will set this DTC.
Diagnostic Test
1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC
NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Turn the ignition on.
Select ACTIVE or STORED DTC:
ACTIVE ORC DTC
- Go To 2
STORED ORC DTC
- Go To 4
2. VERIFY THAT THE PCM IS PROGRAMMED WITH THE CORRECT VIN
With the scan tool, select System Tests and select VIN Verification.
Compare the VIN displayed by the Scan Tool and the VIN on the Vehicle VIN plate.
Does the current VIN match the VIN on the vehicle VIN plate?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace and program the PCM.
- Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. PCM Verification Test
- Perform *OCS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Verification Test
3. VERIFYING OCM REPLACEMENT PART
With the scan tool, check for active DTCs in the OCM.
Does the scan tool display VEHICLE BODY STYLE MISMATCH active DTC?
Yes

WARNING: If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and personal injury or death.
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.
- Replace the OCM or OCS Bladder and Cushion Kit.
- Perform *OCS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Verification Test
No
- Perform *OCS VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Verification Test
4. CHECKING STORED OR INTERMITTENT CODES
NOTE: Diagnose and repair all active codes before diagnosing stored codes.
With the scan tool, record and erase all Airbag System Module DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 15 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, check for active DTCs in the ORC and OCM.
Does the scan tool display any DTCs?
Yes
- Select the appropriate diagnostic procedure from the Table of Contents in the applicable section.
No
- No problem found at this time. Erase all codes before returning vehicle to customer.
