Passenger Blend Door Not Responding (ATC)

PASSENGER BLEND DOOR NOT RESPONDING (ATC)

For a complete wiring diagram refer to Diagrams/Electrical.

- When Monitored:

With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:

This DTC will set if the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) does not receive feedback pulses within 5 seconds of the drive voltage being applied.

Diagnostic Test

1. ACTIVE HVAC DTC(S) PRESENT

Turn the ignition on.

Using the scan tool, clear all HVAC DTC's.

Using the A/C Heater Control, operate the Passenger Blend Door Actuator.

With the scan tool, check for DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. DOOR DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED HIGH

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Passenger Blend Door actuator harness connector.

Disconnect the HVAC Control Head harness connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Measure the voltage between the (C33) Passenger Blend Door Driver (A) circuit and ground.

Measure the voltage between the (C133) Passenger Blend Door Driver (B) circuit and ground.

Is the voltage above 0.2 volts on either circuit?

Yes

- Repair the Door Driver circuit with voltage above 0.2 voltsfor a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Go To 3

3. DOOR DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED LOW

Turn the ignition off.

Measure the resistance between ground and the (C33) Passenger Blend Door Driver (A) circuit.

Measure the resistance between ground and the (C133) Passenger Blend Door Driver (B) circuit.

Does the ohm meter read open circuit?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the Door Driver circuit with resistance for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

4. (C33) PASSENGER BLEND DOOR DRIVER (A) CIRCUIT OPEN

Measure the resistance of the (C33) Passenger Blend Door Driver (A) circuit between the HVAC Control Head harness connector and the Passenger Blend Door Actuator harness connector.

Does the ohm meter read open circuit?

Yes

- Repair the (C33) Passenger Blend Door Driver (A) circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Go To 5

5. (C133) PASSENGER BLEND DOOR DRIVER (B) CIRCUIT OPEN

Measure the resistance of the (C133) Passenger Blend Door Driver (B) circuit between the HVAC Control Head harness connector and the Passenger Blend Door Actuator harness connector.

Does the ohm meter read open circuit?

Yes

- Repair the (C133) Passenger Blend Door Driver (B) circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Go To 6

6. CHECK THE DOOR ACTUATOR'S CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

Measure the resistance between pin 1 and pin 2 at the Passenger Blend Door Actuator.

Is the resistance below 30.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Passenger Blend Door Actuator.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

No

- Replace the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC).
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
