Ignition Coil
IGNITION COILREMOVAL
Ignition Coils, Coil Capacitor:
1. Prior to removing the ignition coils, spray compressed air around the coil area and spark plug.
2. Remove the air cleaner box.
3. Put floor jack under engine for support.
Transmission Mount:
4. Loosen the transmission mount, do not remove bolts.
Loosened Transmission Mount:
5. Lower engine and transmission.
Removing Coil Bolt:
6. Remove 1 fastener from each ignition coil assembly, driver, center and passenger side coils.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the passenger and driver side coils.
Center Coil Twisted:
8. The center ignition coils will have to be rotated to remove the electrical connector.
Rear Driver Side Coil:
9. Twist driver side coil assembly.
Rear Driver Side Ignition Coil:
10. Pull up and toward rear of vehicle.
Removal Of Rear Driver Side Coil:
11. Lift and remove from vehicle.
Rear Center Ignition Coil:
12. Twist center coil assembly and pull straight up.
Rear Center Coils Removal/Install:
13. Tip center coil assembly toward driver side of vehicle and remove from vehicle.
Rear Passenger Side Coil:
14. Twist passenger side coil assembly and pull straight up and out of vehicle.
INSTALLATION
The coil pack towers are numbered with the cylinder identification. Be sure the ignition cables snap onto the towers.
Rear Passenger Side Coil:
1. Align passenger side coil with top of spark plug.
2. Twist center coil assembly down on to spark plug and valve cover. Install mounting bolt and tighten to 7.5 N.m (65 in. lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to coil.
Rear Center Coils Removal/Install:
4. Align center coil with top of spark plug.
5. Twist center coil assembly down on to spark plug and valve cover. Install mounting bolt and tighten to 7.5 N.m (65 in. lbs.).
Rear Center Ignition Coil:
6. Connect the electrical connector to coil.
7. Align coil with top of spark plug.
8. Twist center coil assembly down on to spark plug and valve cover. Install mounting bolt and tighten to 7.5 N.m (65 in. lbs.).
Removal Of Rear Driver Side Coil:
9. Angle coil from rear of vehicle into valve cover.
Rear Driver Side Ignition Coil:
10. Align coil with top of spark plug.
Rear Driver Side Coil:
11. Twist driver side coil assembly down on to spark plug and valve cover. Install mounting bolt and tighten to 7.5 N.m (65 in. lbs.).
12. Connect the electrical connector to coil.
Loosened Transmission Mount:
13. Raise engine and transmission.
14. Tighten the transmission mount, torque fasteners to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs.).
15. Remove floor jack from under engine.
16. Install the air cleaner box.
