Installation

40TE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

VALVE BODY

INSTALLATION

NOTE: If valve body assembly is being replaced or reconditioned, it is necessary to perform the PCM Quick Learn Procedure.

Fig.405 Underdrive And Overdrive Accumulators:





(1) Install underdrive (2) (Fig. 405) and overdrive (1) accumulators.

(2) Install valve body assembly (1) to transaxle (Fig. 406)

(3) Install and torque valve body-to-transaxle case bolts (Fig. 407)

Fig.408 Install Oil Filter And O-Ring:





(4) Install transaxle oil filter (1) (Fig. 408). Inspect the O-ring (2) and replace if necessary.

(5) Ensure the transaxle oil pan and transaxle case sealing surfaces are clean and dry. Install an 1/8" bead of Mopar ATF RTV (MS-GF41) to the oil pan and install (Fig. 409).

(6) Torque oil pan-to-transaxle case bolts (Fig. 410) to 19 Nm (165 inch lbs.).
(7) Lower vehicle.
(8) Connect transmission range sensor connector.
(9) Install manual valve lever to manual shaft.
(10) Install gearshift cable to manual valve lever.
(11) Connect battery negative cable.
(12) Fill transaxle with Mopar ATF +4 Transmission fluid.
