Thermal Limiting Fuse: Testing and Inspection

THERMAL LIMITER SWITCH

NOTE: The thermal limiter switch is not serviceable. If the switch fails, the A/C compressor must be replaced.

The thermal limiter is calibrated to open and close at the following temperatures:
- Open circuit (no continuity): 122° - 128° C (252 - 262° F)
- Close circuit (continuity): 106° - 116° C (225° - 235° F)

Test the thermal limiter switch as follows:
1. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the thermal limiter switch.
2. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the two thermal limiter switch terminals. If no continuity is present, replace the A/C compressor.
