Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications








Cylinder Head - Bolts

NOTE: The cylinder head bolts are tightened using a torque plus angle procedure. The bolts must be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down the bolts must be replaced (Fig. 22)

Tighten bolts in sequence shown in (Fig. 23), using the following steps and torque values:
^ Step 1: Bolts 1-8 to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
^ Step 2: Bolts 1-8 to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
^ Step 3: Bolts 1-8 to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
^ Step 4: Bolts 1-8 to +90° Turn. Do not use a torque wrench for this step.
^ Step 5: Bolts 9-11 to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)





Cylinder Head Cover - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)
Camshaft Sprocket - Bolts 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
Camshaft Chain Tensioner (Secondary) - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)





Camshaft Bearing Cap - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold - Bolts
Front & Rear
Tighten bolts working from center outwards to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.).
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold to Catalytic Converter V-Band Clamp 11 Nm (100 inch lbs.)








Intake Manifold (Upper and Lower) - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)
Throttle Body - Bolts 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)

CAMSHAFT
Bore Diameter 24.050-24.071 mm (0.9469-0.09476 in.)
Bearing Journal Diameter 24.000-23.981 (0.9449-0.9441 in.)
Bearing Clearance 0.05-0.09 mm (0.0020-0.0035 in.)
Bearing Clearance (Max.) 0.13 mm (0.0051 in.)
End Play 0.13 mm (0.0051-0.0110 in.)

CYLINDER HEAD
Gasket Thickness (Compressed) 1.50 mm ±0.05 0.0591 in. ±0.002 in.
Valve Seat Angle 45° 45.5°
Valve Seat Runout (Max.) 0.05 mm 0.002 in.
Intake Valve Seat Width 1.00-1.5 mm 0.0394-0.0591 in.
Exhaust Valve Seat Width 1.25-1.75 mm 0.0492-0.0689 in.
