Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Working from the engine compartment, hold the throttle body throttle lever in the wide open position.

Throttle Cable 4 Cylinder:




Throttle Cable 2.7L:




2. Remove the throttle cable from the throttle body cam.
3. From Inside the vehicle, hold up the pedal and remove the pedal retainer and throttle cable from the upper end of the pedal lever.

Retainer Clip:




4. Remove retainer clip from throttle cable and grommet at dash panel.
5. From the engine compartment, pull the throttle cable out of the dash panel grommet. Then remove grommet and cable from dash panel.
6. Remove the throttle cable from throttle bracket by carefully compressing both retaining ears simultaneously Then gently pull the throttle cable from throttle basket.

Throttle Cable Bracket 4 Cylinder:




7. On 4 cylinder engines remove throttle cable from routing clip on fuel rail, and routing clip on left front shock tower.

INSTALLATION
1. Install throttle body.
2. Tighten throttle body mounting bolts to 13.6 Nm (120 in. lbs.) torque.
3. Install the throttle cable bracket. Tighten throttle cable bracket mounting bolts to 14.1 Nm (125 in. lbs.) torque
4. Hold throttle lever in the wide open throttle position and install the throttle and speed control cables (if equipped).
5. Connect electrical connectors to the idle air control motor and throttle position sensor (TPS).
6. Install the throttle cable shield.
