Rear Axle Carrier
REAR AXLE CARRIERREMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove the rear disc brake calipers and bolts (1) relocate away from the suspension components with mechanics wire.
4. Remove rear portion of the exhaust pipes including muffler.
5. Remove the parking brake rear cables (2) from the parking brake cable equalizer (1).
6. Remove the right and left Wheel Speed Sensors (2).
7. Remove the rear axle halfshafts.
8. Remove the rear springs (1).
9. Remove the rear shock absorbers (1).
CAUTION: Be sure not to disconnect any of the fuel hoses and lines from the fuel pump assembly.
10. Relocate the fuel pump assembly by removing the bolts (1) and tying it away from the rear axle carrier with mechanics wire.
11. Remove the propeller shaft assembly from the rear axle differential carrier.
12. Remove the rear axle differential carrier.
13. Remove the front two bolts (1) from the rear axle carrier attaching it to the frame.
14. Remove the rear two bolts (2) from the rear axle carrier attaching it to the frame.
15. Remove the rear axle carrier (1) from the frame by lowering it to the ground with a suitable tool (2).
Note: Only remove the following components from the rear axle carrier.
16. Remove the camber strut bolt (1).
17. Remove the trailing link bolt (1).
18. Remove the lateral link bolt (1).
19. Remove the track bar bolt (inner).
20. Remove the stabilizer bar link (2).
21. Remove the lower control arm.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the camber strut bolt (1).
2. Install the trailing link bolt (1).
3. Install the lateral link bolt (1).
4. Install the track bar bolt.
5. Install the stabilizer bar link (2).
6. Install the lower control arm.
7. Install the rear axle carrier (1) by raising it up and installing the four bolts to the frame. Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the rear axle differential carrier.
9. Install the propeller shaft assembly to the rear axle differential carrier.
10. Install the fuel pump assembly bolts (1).
11. Install the rear shock absorbers (1).
12. Install the rear springs (1).
13. Install the rear axle halfshafts.
14. Install the right and left Wheel Speed Sensors (2).
15. Install the parking brake rear cables (2) to the parking brake cable equalizer (1).
16. Install the rear portion of the exhaust pipes including muffler.
17. Install the rear disc brake calipers and bolts (1).
18. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
19. Check vehicle alignment.
