Thermostat: Service and Repair

THERMOSTAT

REMOVAL





1. Remove the air cleaner housing.
2. Partially drain the cooling system.
3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.

Note: The thermostat housing and the thermostat are serviced as an assembly. The thermostat cannot be serviced separately.

4. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts and remove the thermostat and housing from the engine.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the thermostat housing with a new O-ring. Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
2. Connect the upper radiator hose.
3. Fill the cooling system.
4. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
5. Recheck the coolant level and adjust as necessary.
