REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
During the following procedure, the hydraulic system will loose hydraulic pressure after approximately 10 minutes. To avoid this momentarily cycle the convertible top switch up for an instant every 8 minutes.
1. Lower the convertible top into the storage area and stop when the tonneau cover is in the vertical position.
2. Fold both tonneau cover flaps down by hand and tape in place using masking tape (Fig. 1).
3. If there is a foam pad present on the underside of the tonneau cover at the rub strip, remove the foam. The foam pad will not be reinstalled or replaced later.
4. With a heat gun in the lowest heat setting, carefully peel back the wrinkled portion of the rub strip (Fig. 2).
5. Smooth out the wrinkled area of the rub strip by carefully pulling, heating and smoothing the rub strip.
6. After wrapping the rub strip around the forward edge of the tonneau cover, trim the rub strip so that it ends at the sheet metal hemmed edge on the underside of the tonneau cover.
7. Clean the rub strip under the tonneau cover with '~isopropyl alcohol" (rubbing alcohol) (or equivalent).
8. Remove the backing paper from the foil patch.
NOTE:
The sharp edge of a utility knife may aid in separating the backing paper from the foil patch.
9. The foil patch must be placed first on the underside of the tonneau cover in the outside bend as shown (Fig. 3).
10. Smooth out the foil patch working inward and downward. Keep the foil patch as close to the edge without going around the edge of the tonneau cover.
11. Using your fingernail or plastic trim stick, be sure the foil patch is smooth and there are no wrinkles (Fig. 4).
12. Repeat Step # 3 through Step # 11 on the opposite side of the vehicle.
13. Remove the tape from the tonneau cover flaps and slowly return the flaps to the unfolded position.
14. Finish raising or lowering the convertible top.
