9009/9010 POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE (PTCM) LOW VOLTAGE9009/9010 Power Top Control Module (PTCM) Low Voltage:
WHEN MONITORED
Ignition on and battery voltage below 9.6 volts.
SET CONDITION
When the battery voltage to the PTCM falls below a calibrated value for a calibrated amount of time.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Open fused B(+) circuit
- Charging system operation
- Power top control module
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
1. Charging System
Start the engine and allow the engine to idle.
With the DRB III(R), monitor the Battery Voltage value.
Q: Does the DRBIII(R) display Battery Voltage above 10.0 volts?
YES: Go To 2
NO: heck and repair the Charging System. Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
2. Open Fused B(+) Circuit
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PTCM C1 harness connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit at the PTCM C1 harness connector.
Q: Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
YES: Replace the Power Top Control Module. Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
NO: Repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open. Perform POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE VERIFICATION TEST. Power Top Verification Test
