Inspection Procedure 1

Inspection Procedure 1: Indicator does not Illuminate.

Automatic Anti-glare Inside Mirror Power Supply Circuit.

Outside Temperature Meter Electronic Compass Circuit.

INDICATOR

CIRCUIT OPERATION
When the ignition key is in the "ON" position, the green indicator should be illuminated. Make sure the green indicator on. If it's not, press the display switch for more than 6 seconds, less than 9 seconds, until the indicator illuminates.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the indicator does not illuminate, the mirror power supply circuit or the mirror itself may be defective.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the inside rear view mirror
- Damaged harness wires or connectors

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:
- MB991223: Harness Set

STEP 1. Check that the indicator illuminates.

1. Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" or "ON" position.
2. Make sure the green indicator on.
3. If it's not, press the display switch for more than 6 seconds, less than 9 seconds, until the indicator illuminates.

Q: Does the indicator illuminate?

YES: here is no action to be taken.
NO: Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the inside rear view mirror power supply circuit at the inside rear view mirror connector D-04.

1. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 and measure the harness side.
2. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
3. Measure the voltage between terminal 10 and ground.
- The measured voltage should measure approximately 12 volts(battery positive voltage).

Q: Does the measured voltage correspond with this range?

YES: to Step 5.
NO: Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 for damage.

Q: Is the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 4.
NO: Repair or replace the connector. Then go to Step 8.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 (terminal 10) and the ignition switch (IG2).

NOTE: Also check junction block connector C-311 and C-302. If junction block connector C-311 or C-302 is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Harness Connector Inspection.

Q: Is the wiring harness between the automatic anti-glare inside mirror D-04 (terminal 10) and the ignition switch in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 8.
NO: Repair the wiring harness. Then go to Step 8.

STEP 5. Check the inside rear view mirror ground circuit at the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 (terminal 3).

1. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 and measure the harness side.
2. Measure the resistance between terminal 3 and ground.
- The measured value should be approximately 2 ohms.

Q: Does the measured resistance correspond with this range?

YES: to Step 8.
NO: Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 for damage.

Q: Is the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 7.
NO: Repair or replace the connector. Then go to Step 8.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 (terminal 3) and ground.

Q: Is the wiring harness between the inside rear view mirror connector D-04 (terminal 3) and ground in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 8.
NO: Repair the wiring harness. Then go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check the symptoms

Q: Does the indicator illuminate?

YES: There is no action to be taken.
NO: Replace the inside rear view mirror.
