Flash - Engine Roughness, Idle Fluctuation, or Low Speed Transmission Bumps
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2004 (JR) Sebring Convertible/Sebring Sedan/Stratus Sedan
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to JR vehicles equipped with a 2.7L engine (sales code EER) built Between July 2, 2003 and November 24, 2003.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Engine surges or RPM flares while slowing to a stop. May be described as engine roughness or idle fluctuation. This condition may be more prevalent in stop/go traffic with the A/C turned on.
Transmission may exhibit a bump during the 2-1 coastdown shift.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (DRBIII(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures Manual, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the vehicle operator describes or the technician experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
An updated J1962 cable has been released. This cable has a red colored connector at the DRBIII� connection. Use this cable whenever a flash is being performed.
