Audio System - Satellite Radio ESN Recovery

NUMBER: 08-017-03

GROUP: Electrical

DATE: June 13, 2003

SUBJECT:
Radio Electronic Serial Number (ESN)

MODELS:
2004 (LH) 300M

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN ALSO APPLIES TO DEALER INSTALLED RB1 RADIOS SUPPLIED BY MOPAR THAT ARE USED WITH THE SATELLITE DIGITAL AUDIO RADIO SYSTEM (SDARS).

DISCUSSION:

2004 300M's equipped with the RB1 Navigation radio and SDARS as well as Platinum Edition 300M's equipped with a RAZ radio and SDARS receive the first year of Sirius Satellite Radio service free of charge.

The SDARS ESN is required for SDARS activation. If there is no mirror hanger tag with an ESN sticker or the sticker is not on page 3 of the Mopar Satellite Radio Owner's Manual, follow the procedure starting on page 10 of the Mopar Satellite Radio Owner's Manual or on page 137 of the 300M Owner's Manual to retrieve the ESN. If you find that the Mopar Satellite Radio Owner's Manual or 300M Owner's Manual do not list the procedure to retrieve the ESN from a RB1 radio or the RB1 Navigation Owner's Manual procedure does not work, the correct procedure to retrieve the ESN from a RB1 radio is as follows:

1. Turn the ignition key to the Run or Accessory position.

2. Turn the radio On.

3. Insert the Navigation Disc in the radio's CD/DVD player (not the separate 6-disc changer). Allow the radio to install the software. If the software was already installed, then skip to the next step (DO NOT TURN OFF IGNITION DURING THIS PROCESS).

4. Press the CD/AUX button of the radio until "SAT" is displayed on the screen.

5. Highlight SET on the screen using the Select Encoder Knob (knob is on the bottom left of the radio).

6. Press the CANCEL button 4 times. The ESN number will be displayed.

7. If the ESN is not displayed repeat steps 4-6.

To activate Sirius Satellite Radio service after the vehicle is sold, call toll-free, 888-539-SIRIUS (888-539-7474) or visit the Sirius Web site at www.sirius.com. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is also required.
