INSPECTION PROCEDURE D-3: Power Window Relay: Only driver's power window does not work by operating power window main switch.
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The power window motor (LH)opens or closes the door window (LH) when the power window main switch is moved to "UP" or "DOWN" position. The driver's window switch is different from the other window switches. The driver's switch contains a processor to assist with "UP" and "DOWN" function of the window.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The power window main switch or the power window motor (LH) may be detective.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- The power window main switch may be defective.
- The power window motor (LH) may be defective.
- The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tool:
- MB991223: Test Harness Set
STEP 1. Check the power window motor (LH) operation.
1. Remove the power window motor (LH). (Refer to 8S, Door Glass and Regulator.)
2. Connect a battery directly to the motor terminals and check that the motor runs smoothly.
Q: Is the power window motor (LH) in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 2.
NO : Replace the front power window motor (LH). The power window (LH) function should work now normally.
STEP 2. Check power Window main switch connector E-12 and front power window motor (LH)connector E-11 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Are power window main switch connector E-12 and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 3.
NO : Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. The power window (LH) function should work now normally.
STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between power window main switch connector E-12 (terminals 1 and 5) and front power window motor (LH)
connector E-11 (terminals 1 and 2).
Q: Is the wiring harness between power window main switch connector E-12 (terminals 1 and 5) and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 (terminals 1 and 2) in good condition?
YES : Replace the power window main switch. Check that the power window (LH) function normally.
NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back In the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary. The power window (LH) function should work now normally.
