Remote Keyless Entry - Horn Chirp Confirmation Software Program Error
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides information (by build range) to turn ON/OFF the horn chirp confirmation function of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system.

2002 ST Sebring/Stratus Coupe
NOTE:
THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN NOV. 9, 2001 AND JAN. 11, 2002 (MDH11O9XX TO MDH0111XX).
DISCUSSION:
Incorrect software was programmed into the RKE system for the vehicles listed in the build range above. The procedure for switching the horn confirmation ON or OFF is slightly different than instructed in the owner's manual, service manual, or tag attached to the transmitters. If a customer brings their vehicle in because they cannot switch the horn function ON or OFF, verify the build range and provide the following information for their owners manual.
HORN CHIRP FEATURE - ON/OFF:
NOTE:
THESE PROCEDURES MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE IGNITION KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION.
1. Press and hold the LOCK button on the RKE transmitter between 4 and 10 seconds and press the UNLOCK button on the transmitter within this time period.
2. Release the LOCK button and then release the UNLOCK button.
3. A chime sound (1 = 0N/2 = OFF) will confirm programming completion.
NOTE:
ONLY STEP 2 IS DIFFERENT THAN THE STANDARD PROCEDURE. THE STANDARD PROCEDURE IS TO RELEASE THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME.
