Removal-1.6L Engine
REMOVAL-1.6L ENGINENOTE: Before proceeding, review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to Service Precautions.
1. Siphon as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Back out the tube nut securing the power steering fluid pressure hose to the gear.
4. On RHD vehicles, open the routing clamp on the front of the power steering gear and remove the power steering fluid pressure hose tube from the clamp and gear.
5. Remove the bolt securing the pressure hose routing bracket to the engine. Non-A/C equipped vehicles have a spacer behind the bracket that will come loose when the bolt is removed.
6. Remove the bolt securing the pressure hose routing bracket to the transaxle bell housing.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Back out the tube nut securing the power steering fluid pressure hose to the power steering pump.
9. Remove the power steering pressure hose.
