Service Procedure

1. Open the driver's side front door.





2. Using a trim stick (special tool C-4755), carefully pry the speaker grille from the door trim panel (Figure 1).

3. Using a T-20 Torx driver, remove the three speaker retaining screws.

4. Carefully pry the speaker away from the door, unplug the wiring harness from the speaker and set the speaker aside.

CAUTION:
The speaker has two-sided tape holding it in place. Use care when removing speaker to prevent damaging the speaker and/or tape.





5. Open the wire lock on the back of the speaker harness wiring connector (Figure 2).

6. Use the following procedure to remove both wires from the harness connector:





a. While pushing the wire into the connector cavity, insert Miller Special Tool # 6680-4S (terminal remover tool) into the front (terminal) side of the connector (Figure 3).

CAUTION:
Failure to use Miller Special Tool # 6680-4S terminal remover tool may damage the connector housing and/or wire terminals.





b. Lift and hold up the terminal locking tab using the terminal remover tool (Figure 4).

c. While holding up on the terminal locking tab with the terminal remover tool, pull the wire terminal from the connector (Figure 4).

7. Install the wire terminals into the speaker wiring connector as follows:





> Left door: Install the light green with a violet stripe wire into cavity # 1 and the light green with a black stripe wire into cavity # 3 (Figure 5). Cavity # 2 (center cavity) remains empty.





> Right door: Install the light blue with a red stripe wire in cavity # 1 and the light blue with a black stripe wire into cavity # 3 (Figure 6). Cavity # 2 (center cavity) remains empty.

8. Close the wire lock located on the wire end of the speaker wiring harness connector (Figure 4).

9. Connect the speaker wiring harness connector to the speaker.

10. Place the speaker into the door speaker opening.

11. Install the three speaker retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 11 in. lbs. (1.25 Nm).

12. Place the speaker grille over the speaker opening and firmly press it into place.

13. Repeat steps 1 through 12 for the passenger side front door.
