With Scan Tool

Caution:
1. If battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes may not be output. Be sure to check the battery and charging system before continuing.
2. If the battery is disconnected or if the TCM connector is disconnected, the diagnostic trouble code memory will be erased. Do not disconnect the battery or TCM until after you record the diagnostic trouble codes.
3. Turn the ignition switch off before connecting or disconnecting the scan tool.

1. Install the Interface Cartridge (I/F cartridge) to the scan tool.
2. Use the I/F cartridge adapter harness to connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
3. Read and record the diagnostic trouble codes.
4. To repair the malfunction, refer to the INSPECTION CHART FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES.
5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and then back to ON again.

NOTE: If a diagnostic trouble code has set in the TCM, the TCM will send a transaxle trouble code (DTC 11 - DTC 76/PO120 - P1799) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM will record the transaxle DTC. After transaxle repairs are completed, the DTC will remain in the PCM until it is erased. Erasing the TCM trouble codes not erase the codes in the PCM. The PCM codes must be erased separately.

6. Erase the diagnostic trouble codes in the TCM by using the scan tool. .
7. Record all diagnostic trouble codes in the PCM. Then erase the PCM trouble codes. If DTC except DTC (137:P0700) is recorded, refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Trouble Code Troubleshooting chart.
8. Confirm that there are no diagnostic trouble codes in the TCM.
