REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS
CYLINDER HEAD BOLT REMOVAL
RETAINER LOCK REMOVAL
(1) Using the special tool, compress the spring.
(2) Remove the retainer locks.
(1) Do not reuse removed valve stem seal.
INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

(1) Install the valve spring seat.
(2) Using the special tool, install a new stem seal to the valve guide.
Caution:
(1) Valve stem seals for intake valve and for exhaust valve are different. Be sure to install the correct ones.
Valve stem seal identification color
Intake: Silver
Exhaust: Black
(2) Do not reuse the removed valve stem seal.
(3) Always use the special tool to install the valve stem seal. Improperly installed valve stem seal may cause oil leak.
>B<VALVE SPRING INSTALLATION
(1) Direct the valve spring end with identification color toward the spring retainer.

(1) Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown. Each bolt should be tightened in two to three steps, torquing progressively. Tighten to the specified torque in the final sequence.
Caution: Attach the head bolt washer in the direction shown in the figure.
INSPECTION
CYLINDER HEAD
(1) Before cleaning, check the cylinder head for water leaks, gas leaks, damage and cracks.
(2) Remove oil, scale, sealing compound and carbon deposits completely. After cleaning oil passages, apply compressed air to ensure that the passages are not clogged. .
(3) Check the cylinder head gasket surface for flatness by using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.
If the service limit is exceeded, correct to meet specifications.
Standard value: 0.03 mm (0.0012 inches) or less
Limit: 0.2 mm (0.008 inches)
Grinding limit: 0.2 mm (0.008 inches)
Cylinder head height: 119.9 - 120.1 mm (4.72 - 4.73 inches)
Caution: The total thickness of the surface allowed to be removed from cylinder head and mating cylinder block is 0.2 mm (0.0079 inches) In thickness.
